S.S.C and S.S.C Completing story A WONDERFUL GOOSE
A WONDERFUL GOOSE
Once
there lived a poor man in a certain village. He had a peculiar(wcwKDivi) goose(¸R) which
laid a golden egg everyday. The poor man earned his livelihood(wjfwjûW) by
selling the golden eggs. The poor man began to become richer day by day. But he
was very greedy. He wanted to become rich overnight. He thought that the goose
laid only one egg a day. So it would take time for him to be rich. He said to
himself “ the stomach of the goose is full of golden eggs.” If I cut the belly(‡ewj) of the
goose, I shall get all the golden eggs at a time.” He told his plan to his
wife. His wife was a wise woman. She advised him not to do such a foolish act.
But the greedy man paid no heed to her words/The farmer did not listen to his
wife. Finally he cut its stomach(Gm‡UvgvK) with a sharp knife. He searched(QvimW) minutely
for eggs. But Alas! There was no egg in it. The farmer was sorry. His wife
scolded(BmKzj‡WW)
him. She said, “You are foolish but greedy. So you have lost all.”
From the above story we can say that
Grasp all, lose all.
Moral: Grasp all, lose all.
