TREE PLANTATION

Plants and trees are important elements of our environment. They are absolutely necessary for our existence on this earth. They help to maintain ecological balance of the environment.

Ninety percent of our people living in villages are quite ignorant of the importance of forests and trees. They use firewood as fuel for their daily cooking. As such they cut down plenty of valuable trees from the forests at random. But they do not think of planting them further. As a result our forests are losing so many of their trees. A time many come when our environment will lose its ecological balance. It will ultimately threaten our existence on earth. If this process continues, the country will be turned into a desert. It is high time we planted trees to protect our environment.

Forests and trees keep our environment cool and favourable for living. When there will be no trees left in the forests, climate will be an extreme one. There will be less rainfall in the country. This will causes a great harm to our cultivation. It will result in bad harvest and the national economy will suffer as a whole.

We need trees for different purposes, trees hive us food, shelter and oxygen. They make the land fertile. They save our soil from erosion. We get timber from trees. They save the houses from cyclone. They also give shade to protect us from the scorching heat of the sun.

Many trees give us fruits. Trees help to cause rain. They prevent a region from becoming a desert. Our environment is being polluted everyday. Trees prevent air-pollution. So, we must plant trees to save ourselves.

We must raise the slogan ; “plant two saplings before cutting one.’’
