Man, being a social being, cannot live alone. He needs help from others. As a result, friendship is necessary for a person. In order to exchange one’s views, one needs a friend. But it is not always easy to make friends. A friend is one who can be loved and trusted. We wish to make friends with somebody whom we can trust and respect. Friendship is an integral part of human life. It makes life interesting. It is said that friendship makes our joys double and sorrows half. It removes the sense of loneliness and monotony, which is often unbearable. Self-centred and selfish people fail to enter into genuine friendship with others. Shy and reserved people cannot mix with others As a result, they cannot make friends. In order to make friends, we should he sincere, trustworthy  and affectionate, There are many types of friends but the number of real friends is fewer. We should be careful while choosing friends. Fair- weather friends leave us when we are in distress. We should not allow them to take advantage of us. We should bear in mind the well-known saying: A friend in need is a friend indeed’.
